From time to time, archeology provides us with curious surprises that deserve to be shared with everyone. A few weeks ago, an archaeological expedition of the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan under the direction of Professor Alexander Podushkin, Doctor of Historical Sciences, found important material directly related to the ancient Kazakh state of Kangyui.
What is known about Kangyui?
Not much is known about this state And it is considered something enigmatic and not too well known, so any little information can be of great value if you want to know more about the people or groups that lived in this area between the mountains of Karatau and Karzhantau.
This discovery was the fruit of a scientific program created especially to study the archaeological and written records of the unknown state Kangyui and allow to discover the origin of the Kazakhs as a nation. Podushkin himself maintains that the center of this state was in the Arys area.He also believes that the Karaspantobe settlement, located very close to the Kultobe burial site, is actually the city of Bityan, which is mentioned in different written Chinese sources in the capital. from Kangyui state.
During an excavation, the team of archaeologists has discovered human remains and various artifacts of some historical significance in three small mounds in the area known as Ordabasy, in the south of the country. In it, the remains of twelve people were found, including a child, all of them buried at different times.
The team believes that the remains found belong to the state of Kangyui existing from the 2nd century BC. until IV AD It is believed that it was a nomadic people of completely unknown origin and linguistic roots but with great importance in central Asia. Even the Chinese had information that spoke about this people, giving them some importance.
This settlement is located barely a kilometer from the Sary-aryk town, where there are more than 100 mounds where little by little different archaeological artifacts such as jewelry, household items and different utensils are found that little by little reveal what their shape was like. of life.
A complex structure is revealed, which includes an underground chamber as well as a small hole and a corridor or “dromos”. In this place there are three catacombs that showed a certain level of social development, and may be noblemen, where one of them was about five meters deep, something unusual in these burials.
The deeper the burial was, higher social status had the deceased person, as is the case, where in addition to the human remains were found different objects such as inlaid bracelets, knives, pottery, a small bronze bell, etc.
After this discovery, all the found artifacts will go directly to the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan, where they will be studied in depth to learn more about this nomadic people.
After studying History at the University and after many previous tests, Red Historia was born, a project that emerged as a means of dissemination where to find the most important news of archeology, history and humanities, as well as articles of interest, curiosities and much more. In short, a meeting point for everyone where they can share information and continue learning.
